It wasn’t always smooth, nor was it glamorous. In fact, it was a bit wacky. But it was for a good cause.
On Monday, Jan. 11, the Centennial High School Future Business Leaders (FBLA) hosted the second “Dancing with the Staff,” a March of Dimes fundraising spoof of TV’s “Dancing with the Stars.”
Twelve Centennial High School staff members and FBLA chapter members took part in the event, which raised $2,800.
In September, FBLA was challenged by the March of Dimes to raise a “Mile of Dimes,” nearly $10,000. Monday’s event put the group’s total at more than $9,000.
Dance winners were chosen in a two-part process. Half the scores were from the judges, the other half from audience members who paid 50 cents for each vote.
The winners of the contest were student Emily Ciobanasiu and social studies teacher Rob Havrilla for their performance of the history of dance.
