After she was laid off from her bank job, Gresham-native Teri Judd decided to remain in the work force – on her own terms.
“I knew I didn’t want to go back into the corporate world,” she said. “I decided that if I was going to open a business, it was going to be something I love to do.”
The result is Books & Beads, a cozy nook in the plaza at 23 N.E. 10th Drive in Gresham that’s chock full of used books, beads, handbags, vintage jewelry and jewelry-making accessories. The store, which opened in April, boasts an ever-growing array of novels – mysteries, western, romance, graphic – as well as biographies, cookbooks and beyond.
Judd was motivated when she discovered an artistic flair for making bracelets, necklaces and other colorful adornments.
“I never really thought I had a creative outlet,” she said. “When I started beading, I finally found my niche.”
