Michaels earns scholarship


Vanessa Michaels, a 2009 Reynolds High School graduate, is one of 100 Oregon students to earn a Ford Family Foundation scholarship,

Kenneth W. Ford, founder of Roseburg Forest Products Company, established the program for students who need financial assistance to attend college.

The renewable scholarships cover 90 percent – up to $25,000 – of a student’s financial needs for college.

Vanessa, a valedictorian with her class, will be studying environmental ethics and policy at the University of Portland this fall.

Reynolds offers free summer meals

Reynolds School District will provide free meals while supplies last for any child between the ages of 1 through 18 this summer.

A meal can be purchased for a nominal charge for adults 19 years of age and older, at the following sites:

Alder Elementary School, 17200 S.E. Alder Street. Breakfast: 8:30 to 9 a.m. Lunch: noon to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, June 22-July 16.

Davis Elementary School, 19501 N.E. Davis St. Breakfast: 8:30 to 9 a.m. Lunch: noon to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, June 22-July 16.
