Gresham native sells ski bags at local store

Joyce Thompson, a Gresham native and Centennial High School graduate, is selling ski tote bags she designed herself at four pilot stores in the Portland area, including Hillcrest Ski & Sports, 2506 S.E. Burnside Road.

The Tualatin resident founded Mogul Buddy Ski Bags in 2008 when she was tired of lugging skis on her shoulders. She designed a bag she described as “lightweight, yet durable” that can fold up into a small-size pillow that can slip into a ski jacket or backpack.

She also offers bags for ski boots and paddles and plans to expand her product line next year with bags for snowboards, surfboards, wakeboards and disc golf.

For information, visit www.mogulbuddy.com or call Hillcrest Ski & Sports, 503-665-4455.

Wellness spa to hold grand opening event

Pentimento Spa, 234 North Main Ave., will open its doors at 9 a.m. Friday, Nov. 28, and hold an open house from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 29.

The wellness center, which occupies the former Body & Soul spa that closed in October, has undergone renovations. It now has what owners Ken and Shalynn Blocker of Boring call a “simpler environment” than with the previously.

The spa will offer massage, facials, hair, pedicures, manicures, candles, makeup, European soaps, Aveda wellness products as well as other product lines.

“We’re excited, but cautious,” Shalynn said of the new venture.

Regular hours will be 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

Call 503-665-5563 for information.
