School-based health center meeting set
Parents and community members will have a chance to get information and ask questions about school-based health centers at a meeting 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 30, in the community room at Centennial High School, 3505 S.E. 182nd Ave.
The gathering is part of a series of meetings made possible by a grant to Multnomah County Health Department in partnership with Centennial and Gresham-Barlow school districts.
Multnomah County has 12 school-based health centers, but none in East County. The grant’s purpose is to measure community readiness and support for a center. A steering committee with members from both school districts and the county will be present a recommendation later this year.
There are 55 school-based health centers around the state. The centers offer comprehensive, affordable health care to school-age children that includes many of the services typically found in a doctor’s office.
