The Rev. Vance Hays, pastor of Parklane Christian Reformed Church, 16001 S.E. Main St., says he’s encouraging his congregants to participate in the walk.
“I want them to have an experience with other Christians in this part of the county,” Hays said. “I want them to be outside the walls of the church making a visible show of support for other Christians and for their neighborhood. If we’re not helping, we’re almost hurting. We should be active, not passive.”
He adds that about 400 people participated in the walk last year, and that the event is open to the public.
“When the church gets out of its buildings, the community can’t help but take notice,” Pauli adds.

Drug-free
The Greater Gresham Area Prevention Partnership, a walk supporter, is a drug-free community coalition that acts to identify, coordinate and implement strategies to build a safe and healthy community through the reduction of substance abuse among youth.
The GGAPP Faith Team seeks to build awareness of substance abuse and addiction in churches. Churches are seen as places that can provide long-term support for those seeking recovery from addictions.
The GGAPP Faith Team is open to leadership of all faiths who seek to support a safe and drug free community.
For more information, call the GGAPP, located in the Police Activities League at 424 N.E. 172nd Ave., 503-823-0250.
