Obama supporters lined up around the block on March 19 outside a vacated storefront on Southeast Division Street to get tickets to attend the Presidential candidate's rally at Memorial Coliseum Friday.
Tickets were snapped up quickly for Friday morning’s Portland rally by Democratic presidential hopeful Sen. Barack Obama.
Obama will speak at the Memorial Coliseum as the first event in a two-day swing through the state. Friday evening, he will be part of a second rally at McArthur Court on the University of Oregon campus in Eugene.
Another rally is planned at 1 p.m. in Salem.
Obama is in a tight race with New York Sen. Hillary Clinton for the Democratic presidential nomination. Oregon’s 65 Democratic delegates will be chosen during the May 20 presidential primary election.
Friday’s rally in Portland is at 9:30 a.m. at the coliseum, 500 North Winning Way. Doors open at 7:30 a.m.
Free tickets for the event attracted a crowd Wednesday afternoon outside the Obama for America headquarters, 3016 S.E. Division St. People lined up around the building to get the tickets, which were gone before evening.
