Gladys H. Anderson Kinunen

Gresham resident Gladys H. Anderson Kinunen, 100, died Friday, March 14.
A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home, 520 W. Powell Blvd. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 20, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 507 W. Powell Blvd. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Fargo, N.D.
Gladys was born Oct. 31, 1907, in St. Paul, Minn., to Herman and Marie (Swanson) Gutaw. She received her teaching degree in 1926 from Moorhead State Teachers College, now known as Minnesota State University Moorhead, in Moorhead, Minn.
In 1927, she married Hans Arthur Anderson in St. Paul. After his death, she married Einar Kinunen in 1967 in Fargo.
Gladys worked as a teacher in Dilworth, Minn., and as a business office manager for St. Luke’s Hospital in Fargo. She was active with several churches and organizations, including All Nations Lutheran Church in Rocklake, N.D., and Elim Lutheran Church in Fargo. She moved to Gresham in 1993, and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Gladys was an avid reader, and she loved baking. She was known for her sugar cookies. She crocheted quilts and doilies and made many quilts for Lutheran World Relief. She also enjoyed walking daily and did so until age 95.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Hans, in 1964 and Einar in 1995.
Survivors include her sons, Dave Andersen of Gresham and Donald Andersen of El Dorado Springs, Mo.; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
