Adrienne Claire Curran
June 25, 1939-Nov. 11, 2008
East County resident Adrienne Claire Curran, 69, died Tuesday, Nov. 11, at a care center in Gresham.
A service will be held at a later date.
Adrienne was born June 25, 1939, in Worcester, Mass., to Andrew J. and Libyer (Calocci) Stellato. After high school, she moved to Quincy, Mass., and then to Chicago, where she worked as a ticketing agent with Delta Airlines for eight years.
In 1958, she married Francis C. Curran, who preceded her in death in 1990. On March 31, 2003, she married Gerald Grabill. He preceded her in death on April 14, 2008.
Adrienne moved to Gresham in 1980. She enjoyed canning and drying fruits and vegetables, and making her own sausage.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lisa Merenda.
Survivors include her sons, Francis “Frank” Curran of Gresham and Craig “Butch” Curran of Chicago; daughter, Adrienne Curran of Key West, Fla.; brothers, Andrew Stellato of Gresham and Sal Stellato of Lake Wales, Fla.; sister, Marianne Shilosky of Canton, Conn.; and three grandchildren.

Judy G. Hindman
Jan. 6, 1943-Nov. 10, 2008
Rockwood resident Judy G. Hindman, 65, died Monday, Nov. 10, at Providence Portland Cancer Center.
A private cremation was held.
Judy was born Jan. 6, 1943, in Portland to James Homer and Vada May Parrack. She lived in Portland for most of her life, except for one year in Alaska and six months in British Columbia, Canada.
She was previously married. On May 26, 1995, she married Charles “Chuck” Hindman in the back yard of her home.
Judy worked for Fred Meyer as an order clerk, retiring in 2008. Her interests and hobbies included sewing, quilt making, baking, crafts, gardening and bingo. She was known as a best friend and mentor to her children, and she was always there for her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Chuck, on Aug. 19, 2002; and by her sister, Edith May Wilson.
Survivors include her sons, Nick C. Wilson of Portland, James E. Wilson of Portland and Mike S. Wilson of Portland; daughters, Annette M. Wilson of Portland and Kim V. Fleming of Gresham; brother, Jim “Bud” Parrack of Portland; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Sydner “Syd” D. Maiden
June 27, 1924-Nov. 7, 2008
Gresham resident Sydner “Syd” D. Maiden, 84, died Friday, Nov. 7.
A celebration of his life will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 17, at Good Shepherd Community Church, 28986 S.E. Haley Road, Boring. He will be buried at the Sharon Hill Cemetery in Kalona, Iowa, at the Gardner-Allen family plot.
Syd was born June 27, 1924, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to Dr. Sydner D. and Sarah Allen Maiden. He was a direct descendant of William Brewster, an elder on the Mayflower. Syd graduated from Kemper Military Academy and received advance degrees from the University of Iowa and Wayne State University.
On Aug. 12, 1947, he married Patricia Mildred Cox.
Syd taught high school literature and world history for 17 years throughout the Midwest. He worked as a librarian at Western Washington State University and at Prineville City Library, and also at Pendleton Woolen Mills in Portland.
At age 24, Syd was diagnosed with Type I diabetes. In 1956, he spent two months at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., where he learned how to live with the disease. He was treated for many years at the Portland Diabetes Center, and in 1998 he received the Joslin Victory Award for being one of 2,100 people worldwide to survive 50 years of insulin injection.
Syd was an active member of Good Shepherd Community Church for 20 years. He was an avid reader with a great knowledge of the Bible, world history, nutrition and health. His biggest hobby was taking pictures of his family and friends, and he was well known for always having candid pictures to share. He was also known for his passion for bicycling, which was the highlight of each day. His cycling accomplishments included hill climbs to the top of Larch Mountain, Cycle Iowa and the Marin County Headlands during his 70s.
Syd was known for recognizing how important it was to enjoy the simple things in life by never stressing too much, loving the Lord and caring for others.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Marion Maiden and Virginia Damon; son, Glenn Sydner Maiden; and granddaughter, Amber C. Maiden.
