ADVERTISEMENTS
Gresham city councilors this week will interview eight candidates to find a replacement for a fellow councilor who resigned earlier this month citing work conflicts.
Councilors will interview the applicants in Gresham Council Chambers, 1333 N.W. Eastman Parkway, from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday, June 25.
Mike Bennett, 57, announced his resignation effective June 8, citing his demanding work schedule with a Hillsboro engineering firm. Councilors will appoint a replacement for position 2 during the Tuesday, July 7, council meeting.
The newly appointed councilor will fill the remainder of the position’s four-year term until the next election in which at least one other measure or candidate is on the ballot. Otherwise, the term expires on Jan. 1, 2011.
Applicants who filed applications with the city by the Friday, June 19, deadline include:
• John M. Bildsoe – Rockwood Neighborhood Association President; vice president of Gresham’s Coalition of Neighborhood Associations; member of the Gresham Redevelopment Commission advisory and budget committees; Rockwood Business Coalition member; works in commercial property investment and management; Gresham resident since 2005.
