Funds will help pay for security, storefont improvements

ADVERTISEMENTS

Gresham redevelopment commissioners approved two reimbursement grants to improve a business and an apartment complex during the commission’s Tuesday, June 16, meeting.

Set-N-Me-Free Aloe Co., at 19220 S.E. Stark St., will receive $20,000 to help spruce up its building, which faces Stark and East Burnside Street.

The money will help pay for more than $40,000 in storefront improvements, including signs, exterior lighting, partial brick facing along the street-facing exteriors, new windows, exterior paint, planter boxes and landscaping, plus re-striping and re-surfacing the parking lot.

The company has been in business in Rockwood for 20 years as a retail store and a distribution hub for a variety of skin care and body wrap products.

In addition to the $40,000 in storefront improvements, the company is investing another $10,0000 in other improvements.

The commission also approved a $25,000 grant for $61,450 worth of safety- and security-related improvements to the 16-units at Rogers Apartments, 615 S.E. 187th Ave.
