Children find body in Gresham park
A body found by children playing in a local park has been identified as David Velicki, 45, of Portland, according to the state medical examiner’s office.
Police suspect he committed suicide, but the cause of death remains to be determined, said Sgt. Mike LeDuc, Gresham police spokesman.
At 12:39 p.m. Monday, Aug. 3, children discovered the body near the east end of Kirk Park in the 1000 block of Northeast 183rd Avenue and reported it to police.
The Barlow Girls Soccer teams will host a car wash fundraiser from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, at the Firestone Complete Auto Care, 2105 N.E. Burnside Road in the Oregon Trail Mall.
MetroEast Community Media received $124,277 from the Mt. Hood Cable Regulatory Commission in order to improve its coverage of local government meetings.
MetroEast has robotic cameras at government venues in Gresham, Fairview, Troutdale and Multnomah County. The grant will help MetroEast replace the aging equipment at those sites with better equipment, improving the quality of broadcasts.

The free Rec Mobile will visit Vance Park and the Rockwood Station Apartments on Fridays through Aug. 29.
The Rec Mobile is a van stocked with supplies for young children in kindergarten or older. Parents and caregivers can bring their children to enjoy sports, arts and crafts and board games. The Rec Mobile will be at Vance Park, 1400 S.E. 182nd Ave., from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and then at the Rockwood Station Apartments, 19100 E. Burnside St., from 1:30 to 4 p.m.
