William Earl Peacock
Nov. 10, 1915-Aug. 30, 2009
Damascus resident William Earl Peacock, 93, died Sunday, Aug. 30, at his home.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, at Greater Gresham Baptist Church, 3848 N.E. Division St. A private committal service was held at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.
Earl was born Nov. 10, 1915, in Mineral Springs, Mo., to Charles and Josephine (Erwin) Peacock. He was raised and educated in Missouri, moving to Portland in 1936. After serving in the Civilian Conservation Corps for one year, he enlisted in the Army Air Force on March 12, 1942. Earl was honorably discharged with the rank of sergeant on Nov. 28, 1945.
On Sept. 16, 1943, he married Chloe Stephenson in Exeter, Mo.
Earl worked for Charles R. Schmiedeskamp Contractors as a carpenter/master craftsman, retiring in 1977.
Earl enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, traveling and spending time with his family. He was a man of deep faith and a member of Greater Gresham Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; daughter, Linda Clayton of Portland; son, Brian Peacock of Damascus; sisters, Ruby Stephenson of Portland, Edith Hilperthauser of Portland and Mildred Pillote of Sheridan; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
The family suggests contributions to Portland Adventist Hospice, 5835 N.E. 122nd Ave., Suite 135, Portland, 97230.
Gresham Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
Ryan Scott Brown
Dec. 29, 1986-Aug. 16, 2009
Fairview resident Ryan Scott Brown, 22, died Sunday, Aug. 16, in Clackamas from leukemia.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, at City Bible Church, 9200 N.E. Fremont St., Portland.
Ryan was born Dec. 29, 1986, in Portland to Scott and Debra (Arndt) Brown. He was raised and educated in Portland. He graduated in 2005 from Parkrose High School, where he was on the swim team and the water polo team.
As hobbies, Ryan enjoyed computers, gaming, rafting down the Sandy River and hanging out with friends. He was a member of City Bible Church.
Survivors include his mother, Debbie Arndt-Brown of Fairview; sisters, Chelsea Haynes of Tigard and Katie Brown of Hillsboro; grandparents, Lucille Brown Martin of Portland and Les and Clair Arndt of Canby; and five nieces and nephews.
Gresham Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
Kenneth “Kenny” Lee Wieder
July 28, 1961-Aug. 17, 2009
Gresham resident Kenneth “Kenny” Lee Wieder, 48, died Monday, Aug. 17, at Legacy Mount Hood Medical Center.
A memorial service will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 20, at the Inn Between Steakhouse, 67858 E. Highway 26, Welches.
Kenny was born July 28, 1961, in Henderson, Nev., to Richard and Linda Wieder. He was raised in Henderson and graduated from Basic High School. He moved to Oregon in the 1980s with his family.
Kenny was a sheet metal worker and a member of Sheet Metal Training Center Local 16. He loved being with his friends and family, as well as the outdoors, and his interests included fishing, camping, boating and golf. He was a Sandy- and Welches-area resident for the past three years.
On April 26, 2008, Kenny sustained a severe brain injury after a fall, which left him in a coma. He was a patient at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland and was later transferred to Regency Gresham Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
