MOMS Club hosts Halloween party

The MOMS (Moms Offering Moms Support) Club of Troutdale is hosting a Halloween costume party from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, Oct. 30, at River of Life Lutheran Church, 2477 S.W. Cherry Park Road, Troutdale.

Mothers and children of all ages are invited to enjoy spooky treats and drinks, Halloween music, dancing, games and socializing.

The Troutdale chapter of MOMS Club, which includes residents of Troutdale, Fairview, Wood Village and Corbett, has weekly activities to help everyone from new moms to moms with older children connect and support each other. Activities include potlucks, parties, picnics, playgroups, moms’ night out and more.

Its goals are to provide a support group for mothers who choose to be stay-at-home moms, to provide a forum for topics of interest to mothers, to help children in the community and to perform at least one service project yearly to help needy children.

Call Rachel Arnold at 503-686-8462 for more information.

Work begins at MAX stations

Starting this week, TriMet is using federal stimulus funds to improve several MAX stations in East County.

TriMet was awarded $53.3 million in federal funds to fix its infrastructure, make the transit system more robust and to put people to work. The 31 stimulus projects are projected to fund 740 direct jobs and 1,100 indirect jobs.

The projects include repainting four MAX stations in the Gresham area and upgrading various street and rail crossings at 11 MAX stations with new signs, pavement markings, chains, bollards and railings. Other planned projects include refurbishing a secured bike cage and installing fencing, lighting and signage at Gresham Central Station, and replacing tactile pavers, which alert blind and low-vision pedestrians to the tracks, at five stations.
