Betty I. Hammons
June 26, 1929-Nov. 3, 2009
Gresham resident Betty I. Hammons, 80, died Tuesday, Nov. 3.
A funeral service was held Friday, Nov. 6, at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home in Portland. Interment was at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.
Betty was born June 26, 1929, in Mitchell, Neb., to Floyd and Lydia Lomax. She was raised in Twin Falls, Idaho, Nyssa, and in Parma, Idaho. She graduated from high school in Parma in 1947.
On Nov. 27, 1947, she married Lloyd Hammons Jr.
Betty worked for Minit Mart and was a homemaker. She enjoyed playing bunco with friends.
Survivors include her husband; sons, Dennis D. Hammons of Redmond, Wash., and Jeffrey J. Hammons of Gresham; daughter, Kelly K. Mohr of Gresham; brother, Keith Lomax of Seattle; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Norma Matilda Heinige
Oct. 31, 1925-Nov. 1, 2009
Gresham resident Norma Matilda Heinige, 84, died Sunday, Nov. 1.
At her request, no formal service will be held.
Norma was born Oct. 31, 1925, in Hackensack, N.J., to Walter C. and Lillian (Schnabel) Kreppel. She was raised in New Jersey.
On Feb. 16, 1943, she married August M. Heinige in New Jersey. They moved to California in 1955 and to Gresham in 1970.
Norma was a homemaker. She enjoyed playing games and embroidering.
She was preceded in death by her husband; by her brother; and by her sister.
Survivors include her sons, Wayne Heinige of Colton and Brad Heinige of The Dalles; daughters, Bev Novakovich of Portland and Janet Leckron of Corbett; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Loretta Metzger
April 14, 1917-Oct. 21, 2009
Former Gresham resident Loretta Metzger, 92, died Wednesday, Oct. 21, at Metrowest Medical Center in Framingham, Mass.
A funeral service was held Tuesday, Oct. 27, at First United Methodist Church in Framingham.
Loretta was born April 14, 1917, in Gresham to Carl and Matilda (Walker) Dahl.
She was married to Eldon C. Metzger for 33 years.
Loretta was a homemaker. She worked at Jordan Marsh Co. in Framingham and the Want Advertiser in Sudbury, Mass. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Framingham Women’s Club and the Callahan Senior Center. She volunteered for the American Red Cross blood drives for 35 years and for the Framingham Historical Society as a guide and greeter.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1984; and by her brother, Raymond Dahl.
Survivors include her daughter, Carla Stewart of Framingham; son, Mark Metzger of Frederick, Md.; and one grandson.
