Multnomah County Chairman Ted Wheeler told followers on his Twitter site Sunday that he was injured while skiing.
Wheeler was recovering Sunday at St. Charles Hospital in Bend. His wife Katrina was with him.
The Portland Tribune has not been able to reach Wheeler for comment. His Twitter page includes a close-up photo of Wheeler in a hospital bed with bruises and small cuts on his face.
In a series of comments that began around 8 a.m. Sunday, Wheeler wrote that his injuries included a “broken back” with two damaged discs, a broken shoulder and slight facial lacerations. He wrote that there was no paralysis and predicts a complete recovery.
Wheeler also wrote that his wife told him he was knocked out for five minutes and he had a concussion.
Wheeler was wearing a helmet, which he says is “trashed” in the accident. His page includes a photo of the helmet.
The Web site has several get-well-soon wishes from people.
Wheeler's Twitter page can be reached through his office Web site, www.multco.us/chair .
This is news worthy? I remember Ted paying someone a several thousands of dollars per year to manage his twitter account, just before the election. then when the money got tight, he tells everyone that maybe now isnt the best time to have a twitter manager. BUT, he has had one anyway, and Im sure he paying someone too much money to watch what he does and says on it. This man is a caniving individual who has the same ego as Sam the pediphile. And Ted wants to be the next mayor. They deserve eachother. Mayeb his twitter manager will run the county while he is laid up.

Re: Wheeler tweets: Injured in skiing accident
thanks for covering this. good story, Jim. and glad to see the Trib considers this newsworthy even if that other paper (and the "big" free weekly) doesn't.
