The annual holiday Corbett Fun Festival — featuring “Breakfast with Santa,” a parade and Christmas tree lighting ceremony — returns to the Springdale-Corbett area from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 5.
Organized by Phil “Big Bear” and Judy DuFresne, former owners of Big Bear’s Crown Point Market, the breakfast runs from 8 a.m. to noon at Corbett Elementary School, 35800 E. Historic Columbia River Highway. Cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children.
At 6 p.m., Santa Claus and two reindeer in an 8-foot sleigh will lead a short holiday parade from the Reynolds School Forestry Center east to the Springdale School Community Center, 32405 E. Historic Columbia River Highway. A 25-foot tall Christmas tree, donated by Dave Hazlewood of Olcott’s Christmas Trees, will be lighted around 7 p.m., along with holiday carols and free hot chocolate, coffee and cookies.
Phil DuFresne, who started the community tradition 35 years ago, said he still enjoys his role.
“I’ve been doing this so long that kids who used to come along are bringing their own kids,” he said.
