SUNDAY, JAN. 17

Chess at the Library — 1 to 4:45 p.m., Gresham Library, 385 N.W. Miller Ave. Have fun playing chess or Chinese chess. The library will provide the equipment. All ages welcome. Call 503-988-5387 for information.

Game On! — 2 to 4 p.m., Fairview-Columbia Library, 1520 N.E. Village St. Bring your favorite games to the library to share, and staff members will provide snacks. For information, call 503-988-5655.

Learning Lab: Guide to English Language Learning Resources – 2 to 4 p.m., Rockwood Library, 17917 S.E. Stark St. Practice English skills on language-learning Web sites and also learn about library resources and services. Basic computer skills are needed. Call Melissa at 503-988-6318 for information.


TUESDAY, JAN. 19

Book Babies — 10:15 to 11 a.m., Gresham Library, 385 N.W. Miller Ave. Storytime for children up to 12 months old with an adult.

Preschool Storytime — 10:30 to 11:15 a.m., Gresham Library, 385 N.W. Miller Ave. Storytime for children ages 3 to 6 years old with an adult.

Homeschool Book Group for Kids — 1 to 2 p.m., Fairview-Columbia Library, 1520 N.E. Village St. For homeschoolers age 6 to 10. Read “Mogo, the Third Warthog” by Donna Jo Napoli and talk about great books.

Homeschool Book Group for Teens — 2 to 3 p.m., Fairview-Columbia Library, 1520 N.E. Village St. For homeschoolers age 14 to 18. Read “The Naming: The First Book of Pellinor” by Alison Croggon and talk about great books.

Computer Lab — 4 to 7 p.m., Gresham Library, 385 N.W. Miller Ave. Lab assistants are available to help beginners practice their computer skills.

Adelita’s Knitting — 4:30 to 6 p.m., Rockwood Library, 17917 S.E. Stark St. Whether you are an experienced or beginning knitter, join in the fun as participants learn together. Needles and yarn are provided for in-class use, but bring supplies if you have them. For ages 12-18. Call 503-988-5396 for more information.

Intercambio/Language Exchange — 6 to 7:30 p.m., Gresham Library, 385 N.W. Miller Ave. Practice speaking English or Spanish in a friendly atmosphere. Beginners are welcome.
