Irene N. Hartwig
Dec. 29, 1934-Feb. 23, 2010
East Portland resident Irene N. Hartwig, 75, died Tuesday, Feb. 23, at home with her family.
At her request, no services will be held.
Irene was born Dec. 29, 1934, in Little Rock, Ark., to Harry and Yvonne Norris. She moved many times during her younger years.
She was married to Darold L. Hartwig for 40 years. They settled in Portland and raised a family.
Irene enjoyed traveling in a recreational vehicle around the region with Darold, sometimes hosting at RV parks. Irene also traveled to many foreign countries, and she and her daughter traveled overseas and by sea a couple times a year. Irene also loved family camping trips, or any event that involved her family and friends.
Survivors include her husband; children, Wendell Cook of Portland, W. Kelly Cook of Spokane, Wash., and Patty Olson of Sandy; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Neptune Cremation Service is handling arrangements.
May 20, 1908-Jan. 18, 2010
Gresham resident Juanita “Nita” Theople Imrie Jayne, 101, died Monday, Jan. 18, at Farmington Square Gresham.
No services will be held. Interment was at Mountain View Cemetery in Goldendale, Wash.
Nita was born May 20, 1908, in Goodnoe Hills, Wash., to William Albert Imrie and Arvilla Jane Beeks, the 10th of 11 children. Her family had more than 1,000 acres of wheat, livestock, fruits and vegetables. Due to illnesses in the family, they traveled a great deal. Nita, who was nicknamed Mouse because of her quiet personality, was raised in Goodnoe Hills, in Goldendale and in Melrose, Ore. She graduated from Goldendale High School.
As a young adult, Nita traveled between Seattle and San Francisco and worked as a waitress. She married Joseph McAfee Jayne, and they began a traveling business selling gifts and handmade items to department stores. Joe preceded her in death on July 2, 1952.
Nita also worked for Boeing. She later teamed with her cousin, Stella May McCrady, and they traveled together in a recreational vehicle and spent many winters in Mexico and in Yuma, Ariz.
Nita moved to Gresham in the mid-1970s and lived at Palmquist Estates Mobile Home Park. She moved into a care facility in December 2009.
Nita was involved with Loners on Wheels, an RV/trailer traveling club that held monthly campouts and rallies. Nita also belonged to the Widows of the Elks 1805 and was active in the Gresham Senior Center with exercise classes and lunch. She delivered food through Meals-On-Wheels.
Nita enjoyed sewing, fishing, making craft items, cribbage, traveling, visiting friends and family and cocktail hour. She also loved to get greeting cards from family and friends and to talk about how she knew them and about their activities.
She was preceded in death by her cousin, Stella; and by all of her brothers and sisters.

East Portland resident Dorothy Marie Teeter, 84, died Wednesday, March 3.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 12, at Abundant Life Church, 17241 S.E. Hemrick Road, Happy Valley. Private interment will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Gresham.
Dorothy was born Nov. 22, 1925, in Walla Walla, Wash., to David and Mabel (Hopp) Angelo. She attended Gresham and Corbett high schools, graduating from Corbett High in 1944. Dorothy attended San Jose Bible College in California for two years. During World War II, she worked in the shipyards.
On Sept. 6, 1946, she married Charles Teeter at Gresham Church of Christ.
Dorothy was a homemaker, and she worked at Lipman’s department store and as a boilermaker at the Boardman Power Plant and at the shipyards. She lived in Russellville, Gresham, Troutdale, Corbett and then in East Portland. She was a member of Abundant Life Church.
Dorothy’s interests included gardening, art and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a self-taught musician and could play keyboards, the organ, guitar, harmonica and the accordion. She loved children.
Her husband, Charles, preceded her in death in 1990.
Survivors include her sons, Jerry Teeter of Turner and Ron Teeter of Portland; daughters, Ellen Bossen of Portland, Christi Nelson of Milwaukie and Beth Madigan of Portland; brother, Tony Angelo of Corbett; sisters, Joyce Reinsch of Halfway and Frankie Angelo of Oklahoma City; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Gresham resident Marianne Ross, 52, died Wednesday, March 3, at Legacy Emanuel Hospital & Health Center in Portland.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 9, at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home, 520 W. Powell Blvd.
Marianne was born Feb. 12, 1958, in Portland to Ernie and Mary Davis. She was raised in Portland.
On July 15, 1976, she married Kirk Ross.
Marianne started her career as a bank teller. She worked for Lewis & Clark Bank, which she helped start up, as a senior vice president of operations and compliance.
Survivors include her husband; daughters, Lindsay Ross of Portland and Kayleigh Ross of Gresham; and son, Lane Ross of Gresham.
