I highly disagree!!! Mara is right on with all her facts. There is nothing wrong with presenting the "facts" of what she witnessed at the hearing. Thats JOURNALISM, she reported the facts and emotional ambiance of the courtroom accurately for both and sides. There is nothing melodramatic or grandiose about presenting the truth. She was there, and so was I, and from what I am reading, nobody has been misquoted. If you can't handle factuality and a little individual journalistic style then it might be to read another paper.

Reporting style? What was there to report?
I'm more concerned with the random nature of this shooting. If Mayfield can't come up with a better story, we're gonna be faced with some seriously draconian gun laws.

Re: Accused poker room shooter denied bail
Once again, Mara Stine proves that she cannot report on the facts, she feels the need to editorialize and play on the emotional aspects as if this was some Ann Rule book. You're a JOURNALIST, Mara, if you want to be melodramatic and grandiose I suggest you quit your job and become a novelist. Or go work for Fox News.
You're doing a great disservice to all involved by "reporting" on these stories in this over-the-top language of hype.
Is it no surprise that so many recent acts of violence by "normal" people are happening in Gresham? I think not.
