DeAnn Dixon

Gresham resident DeAnn Dixon, 55, died Saturday, March 6.
A funeral service was held Thursday, March 18. Interment was at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Gresham.
DeAnn was born Dec. 14, 1954, in Portland to Carl and Dorothy (Davis) Dixon. She lived in Sandy for 13 years and attended Sandy High School.
DeAnn lived in Gresham for the past 25 years. She was passionate about history, was a seamstress, and enjoyed making arts and crafts such as embroidery, beads and jewelry making.
Survivors include her daughter, Granuaile Thompson of Gresham; and brother, William Scott Powers of Gresham.

Perry M. Allard
Dec. 21, 1921-March 13, 2010
Damascus resident Perry M. Allard, 88, died Saturday, March 13.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, April 5, at Willamette National Cemetery, 11800 S.E. Mount Scott Blvd., Portland. A reception will follow at 2 p.m. at the American Legion Post 1.
Perry was born Dec. 21, 1921, in Republic, Wash., to William and Birdie (Phiffer) Allard. He attended various schools in Portland and graduated from Benson High School in 1940. Following his graduation, Perry enlisted in the Navy and served during World War II. He was honorably discharged on Jan. 15, 1952, after 11 years of service.
On Jan. 1, 1947, he married Rose Clark in Portland. They resided in Portland for many years before moving to the Damascus and Boring area, where they lived for the past 33 years.
Perry worked as a pattern maker for various companies. He took a permanent job with Northwest Pattern Shop, retiring in 1991 after 20 years of employment.
Perry was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. He also kept busy with woodworking and home improvement projects. He loved music, dancing and playing poker with his family and friends. He belonged to the American Legion Post 1 and to the Oregon Bow Hunters.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Vincent Allard; and by his sister, Blanche Kness.
Survivors include his wife; sons, William Allard of Florida and Lance Allard of Oregon; daughter, Penny Parsons of Clackamas; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Alan Thomas Hofstrand
May 1, 2009-March 13, 2010
Gresham resident Alan Thomas Hofstrand, 10 months, died Saturday, March 13.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 20, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3500 S.E. 182nd Ave. A private graveside service will be held at Sandy Ridge Cemetery.
Alan was born May 1, 2009, in Gresham to Mark and Monica Hofstrand.
Survivors include his parents; and grandparents, Mark and Debra Hofstrand of Moscow, Idaho, and Marjorie Savoie of Sandy.

Horace E. Rainey
May 11, 1912-March 15, 2010
Gresham resident Horace E. Rainey, 97, died Monday, March 15.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 20, at Peace Church of the Brethren, 12727 S.E. Market St., Portland. Private entombment will be at Sunset Hills Memorial Park in Portland.
Horace was born May 11, 1912, in Homestead, Pa., to Jesse and Eletha (Brickley) Rainey. He was raised in Pennsylvania.
On Sept. 18, 1937, he married Elizabeth Weaver in Moscow, Idaho.
Horace lived in Ohio, Montana, Idaho and then in the Portland area, residing in Gresham for the past 11 years. He was a member of Local 48 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
Horace enjoyed gardening, singing in the church choir, collecting rocks and thunder eggs and hiking. He served on the board of directors for Camp Myrtlewood and was a member of the Church of the Brethren. He was also actively involved in civic affairs in Multnomah County.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Ed Rainey of Gresham and David Rainey of Seal Rock; daughter, Aletha Strietzel of Johnstown, Colo.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
