Driscoll, sisters train for marathon
Tam Driscoll, a city of Gresham employee and a top fundraiser for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and her five sisters are preparing to race in the seventh annual Nike Women’s Marathon and raise money for the society.
Driscoll has been involved with the society for 10 years and has participated in dozens of full- and half-marathons, raising thousands of dollars to become one of the group’s top fundraisers.
The Nike Women’s Marathon will take place in San Francisco on Oct. 17, with several participating teams that are poised to surpass $100 million since the inception of the event. Driscoll and her five sisters — Pam, Kathy, Debbie, Tracey and Barbara — will participate as Team Nancy in honor of their sister, who died from non-Hodgkins lymphoma in June 2009.
The sisters’ mother, Joyce Driscoll, is the team’s honorary coach, and their brothers, Dan and Tim Driscoll, are helping with fundraising and awareness.
