To the east of Sandy, a large mudslide occurred at approximately 10:24 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 1 and closed down Highway 26 at milepost 35, just east of East Sleepy Hollow Road. The debris is estimated to be up to 2 feet deep and 80 to 100 yards in width, and contains mud and trees. Two vehicles were reported to be on the east side of the slide area, but no one was injured.
Vehicles have been detoured to Ten Eyck Road to Marmot Road and then Sleepy Hollow Road. Large trucks should avoid Marmot Road and use Interstate 84 as a detour
