Don’t look now, but Reynolds football is back in the fold.
Formerly down-on-their-luck Reynolds (2-2) knocked off defending champion Central Catholic 26-15 Thursday night, to get their season back on track. After a sluggish start to the season, the upset has evened the Raiders’ league record and put them back in the playoff hunt.
“Our kids just played tremendously hard,” Reynolds coach Terry Schloth said. “We really clicked on all cylinders.”
The Raiders went on a 19-point run to start the second half, moving in front after completing a 92-yard drive that lasted most of the third quarter. Quarterback Bo Bergstrom hit Daniel Walsh with a touchdown pass in the back of the end zone to give Reynolds a lead that it would never surrender.
Reynolds running back Devon DeCamp gained a career-high 223 yards, while Raiders’ lineman Eric Phillips led the defense with three quarterback sacks.
