Corbett junior Isaac Hewitt hit the All-American standard in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 51.86 in Friday’s prelims, then came back a day later and shaved off nearly a half-second to win the finals in 51.45 – a state record for the Class 1A-4A meet.
Portland Lutheran’s Colin Eaton broke the state mark in the 50 freestyle sprint, covering the single lap in 21.27 in Friday’s prelims and winning the finals in 21.29.
• The David Douglas girls took sixth as a team in the Class 6A meet, scoring big points in all three relays and getting a third-place effort from Nikki Overton in the 200 freestyle.
Gresham’s Jordan Pederson was runner-up in the boys 100 backstroke, while Barlow’s Chris Weinert took third in the 500 freestyle.
