ADVERTISEMENTS
Recycle those hard-to-recycle plastics from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 19, at sites listed below. Master Recyclers will collect plastic material that cannot be recycled curbside, including buckets, food tubs, plastic bags, lawn furniture, nursery pots and trays.
Master Recyclers do not accept items that can be recycled curbside. Other items excluded from the plastic roundup are Styrofoam, PVC pipe, food-contaminated plastic and “compostable” plastic (says PLA 7 on bottom).
Agri-Plas, a recycler from Brooks, will process the collected plastic for recycling into new products. Past Master Recyclers’ plastic roundup events successfully diverted 11 tons of plastic from the landfill.
Collections locations
• Portland Community College’s Rock Creek campus, 17705 N.W. Springville Road
• PCC’s Sylvania campus, 12000 S.W. 49th Ave.
• Floyd Light Middle School, 10800 S.E. Washington St.
Recycling categories
• Plastic bags (dry cleaning, store sacks)
• Plant containers and trays (please knock dirt out ahead of time)
• Rinse and separate plastics with numbers by each number separately (bags and plant containers go in the first two categories, no Styrofoam food trays even if they have a number).
